The body of a woman who was reported missing in Mahdia, Region 8 (Potaro-Sipuruni) was found a day after her disappearance with metal objects in her abdomen.
The murdered woman has been identified as 55-year-old Nariman Latifan of Salbora Backdam, Mahdia and also of Lima Dam, Essequibo Coast.
According to reports, on July 5th at about 11:00hrs, the woman’s reputed husband went to the Regional Police Head-quarters, Mahdia, and reported that he left Latifan at their home at Salbora Backdam, and went to a work area, approximately 25 minutes away from their home, seeking gold. The reputed husband said he returned home at about 3 pm and alleged that he saw someone peeping at him from behind the house. Paying no heed, he made his way into the house. As he entered, he called out for his reputed wife but received no answer.
