All eyes of the sporting world will turn its attention to Birmingham, England today inside the Alexander Stadium for the grand opening ceremony of the long awaited Commonwealth Games.
The second largest city in the United Kingdom is fully prepared to host the 22nd multi-sport event for the first time. Inclusive of local sporting standouts, over 5000 athletes are set to compete in the Games in different sporting events.
According to reports, around 30,000 persons will be present at the stadium for the event which is set to commence at 19:00hrs local time.
