Man jailed for four years over Norton St cocaine

A 26-year-old man was yesterday sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined $2.3 million while his co-accused was released on $150,000 bail after they were charged in relation to the discovery of $1.5m in cocaine at Norton Street, Georgetown earlier this week.

Akeem Lashley of ‘B’ Field, Sophia and Andre Clarke of Lot 2 Norton Street, Wortmanville, Georgetown appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

The charge stated that on August 8 at Norton Street, Georgetown, they had in their possession 1.5 kilogrammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
