Gov’t still wooing airlines for direct to Canada flights

Government is still engaging airlines in a bid to secure another service provider for the Guyana to Canada route, Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill recently said as he disclosed that talks with Air Canada are still ongoing.

“Well, I can tell you guys we’re talking with many airlines and Air Canada just happens to be one. President [Irfaan] Ali has been very clear to us that we need to do everything to ensure we have a direct flight [between] Guyana and Canada. That’s something that we are pursuing,” Edghill said at a press conference when he announced the return of British Airways to Guyana.

According to the Minister, they have been in negotiating and taking with other airlines, such as WestJet.
