Overseas-based newlywed dies in Bath road accident

Two families united over the weekend through the marriage of a young couple were plunged into mourning yesterday afternoon after the groom, an overseas-based Guyanese, lost his life in an accident along the Bath, West Coast Berbice Public Road. 

Beeshan Dhoray, also known as ‘Lako,’ 23, of Queens, New York and his new wife, Viroshni Persaud, also known as ‘Roshni’, 19, of Lot 88 Canefield Settlement, East Canje, Berbice, who wedded according to Hindu rights over the weekend, left their Canje home yesterday morning to head to the GPOC building in Georgetown to sign documents to make their union legal.

According to relatives, Persaud’s cousin, Novashkar Sahadeo, 26, an overseas-based Guyanese, rented a car, PTT 7600, and drove the couple along with another relative, Romona Romatalli, 33, of Lot 155 Susannah Village, to Georgetown for the signing.
