Contracts sealed for improved access to Capoey, Mainstay lakes

The signing yesterday of contracts for roads leading to the Capoey and Mainstay lakes on the Essequibo Coast is expected to boost tourism and improve conditions for those living in the vicinity.

Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance, Dr Ashni Singh witnessed the signing of the contracts. 

The Capoey Lake main road will be upgraded at a cost of $219m. The contract was signed between the Ministry of Public Works and Technocon Investments. The project will see 3,000 metres of road upgraded to asphaltic concrete, road edge markings and speed humps.
