Magistrate dismisses bribery charge against former Permanent Secretary

Sharon Hicks

The bribery matter against Amerindian Affairs Ministry Permanent Secretary, Sharon Hicks, was yesterday dismissed in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

The matter was called before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly when the court was informed that the complainant has refused to offer evidence against Hicks.

Hicks, who initially appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan, was charged in December of last year with accepting $200,000 as a bribe to process payment requests for the representative of a security firm. She was subsequently released on $100,000 bail.
