A retired cop has been placed in police custody after he and two others allegedly robbed and abducted a Mahaica businessman after claiming that the man owed them a sum of money.
Reports revealed that the victim, 35-year-old Jagdesh Mangal of Belmont, Mahaica, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was at a popular bar located at Station Street, Kitty, Georgetown when he was assaulted, relieved of his belongings and forced into a motor vehicle on Monday at about 7 pm.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), enquiries have revealed that the victim and the suspects have an ongoing dispute over a sum of money.
