A retired Guyana Police Force (GPF) officer has been charged with the abduction of Mahaica businessman Jagdesh Mangal, who was assaulted and robbed by three men who claimed that they were owed money.
Kenneth Bahadur, 55, of Melanie, East Coast Demerara (ECD), yesterday appeared in the Georgetown court of Senior Magistrate Leron Daly, who read the charge to him.
The father of four was not required to plead to the indictable charge, which states that on September 12, at Station Street, Kitty, he abducted Mangal, 35, with intent to secretly confine him.
