With the focus of exposing chess to a wider audience, the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF) will hold two informative chess sessions at the Giftland Mall on September 24 and October 1 from 2pm to 7pm.

The introductory sessions will be conducted by the GCF’s top senior and junior players. Senior officials will also be present to encourage persons to become members of the GCF. All are invited to support the venture.

Meanwhile, in international news, the teenaged Iranian/French chess superstar Alireza Firouzja conquered the ninth edition of the Sinquefield Cup, which was held in St Louis, Missouri, USA. He won the Rapid and Blitz sections of the Cup and grabbed an extra US$100,000 for winning the 2022 Grand Chess Tour.
