The Ministry of Agriculture through its Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA) and the Agriculture Sector Development Unit last week handed over a total of 20 imported pigs, comprising 17 females and three males, to new and established swine farmers last week to improve their stock and boost the country’s overall pork production levels.

The handing over ceremony was held in the compound of the GLDA last Thursday.

The Department of Public Information (DPI) reported that the farmers will be required to assist other swine farmers once their pigs mature and begin to reproduce.
