West Berbice man remanded after nearly 120 lbs of ganja found in bus

Lal Bahadur Byjoo, who was recently intercepted by the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) with close to 120 pounds of cannabis, was yesterday remanded to prison after being charged with trafficking narcotics.

Byjoo, 58, of Lot 50 Plantation Hope, Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice (WCB), appeared before Magistrate Alisha George at the Sparendeem Magistrate’s Court, where he denied the allegation of having 54.2 kilogrammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking on September 24, at Beterverwagting, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
