Works ongoing to repair Lamaha Street:

Rehabilitation works are still ongoing along Lamaha Street, near the intersection with Irving Street, which had been sinking. Devcon Construction and Contracting Services was awarded the contract, valued $64.9 million, for the works. The Department of Public Information (DPI) had reported last month that the Minister of Public Works Juan Edghill said that the works are expected to be completed within a four-month timeframe. The works will see the rehabilitation of more than 100 metres of roadway encompassing the intersection and a stretch of Lamaha Street. The DPI had reported that the Ministry’s Manger of Traffic, Safety and Maintenance, Kester Hinds as explaining that a revetment would be built to properly support the Lamaha Street and that the road will be widened in order to better facilitate the left turning lane at the intersection. Additionally, the pedestrian walkway will be reconstructed.
