Man remanded over North Ruimveldt break-in

Twenty-four-year-old Christopher Welch of Lot 2442 Soufriere Street, North Ruimveldt was yesterday remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan after he was charged with breaking into a home and stealing a quantity of items which amounting to $332,000.

The charge against Welch states that on September 29th at Lot 2441 Soufriere Street, North Ruimveldt, Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Ashley Hinds and Jackalette Bacchus and stole one Samsung Note 9 cellphone valued at $150,000, a Guess handbag worth $30,000, one perfume worth $15,000, a wallet worth $12,000, a pair of sunglasses worth $5,000 and $120,000 in cash. Welch pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prison. He is expected to return to court on October 31st.
