Members of the Guyana Defence Force on Thursday participated in the 46th Cubana Air Disaster Commemorative Wreath Laying Ceremony. The ceremony took place at the Cubana Air Disaster Monument Site, located in the compound of the University of Guyana, Turkeyen Campus.
As part of the order of ceremony, the ranks performed the Last Post and Reveille.
Also, in attendance were Dr. Frank Anthony, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cuba’s Ambassador to Guyana, Narciso Socorrro (in photo). Cubana de Aviacion Flight 455 was brought down on October 6, 1976, by a terrorist bomb attack. A total of 73 passengers perished in the bombing, including 11 Guyanese students. (GDF photo)
