Mother of five, unborn child die at GPHC

Navita Maraj

A 39-year-old mother of five, Navita Maraj, and her unborn child died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) around 1:30 am on Saturday.

Maraj’s common law husband, Phillip James, told Stabroek News yesterday that on Saturday morning around 1:30, he received a call from the GPHC. The speaker on the other end informed him that he should come to the hospital urgently. When James arrived he was informed that Maraj had died. According to James, uterine rupture was given as the cause of death. This, he said, was related to him by a doctor.
