Plum Park woman faces sentencing after theft of $2M from neighbour

Sentencing was yesterday deferred for a young mother of one who admitted to stealing over $2.2 million in both foreign and Guyana dollars after she appeared before Senior Magistrate Leron Daly in a Georgetown court.

It was alleged that on October 10, at Plum Park, 20-year-old Onicka Matthews stole Cdn $73,330, US$170 US, and Gy$160,550 from Bissoondai Raymond.

Asked by the Magistrate why she stole the money, the now remanded Matthews said that she had no particular reason. Magistrate Daly then ordered for a probation report to be prepared for the defendant and then fixed sentencing for November 17.
