Warder found with drugs at Georgetown Prison – court hears

Twenty-six-year-old Ashford Adams, who is a Prison Officer attached to the Georgetown Prisons, was remanded yesterday on the charge of possession of narcotics.

Adams of Canal #1 on the West Bank of Demerara (WBD) yesterday appeared in the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court before Principal Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus who read the charge to him.  According to the charge, it is alleged that Adams on November 3rd at the Georgetown Prison, had in his possession 22.5 grams of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking. Adams pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded to prison. The matter was adjourned until December 13th for statements.
