The rehabilitation programme of the Guyana Prison Service (GPS) on November 11  received 20 sewing machines to improve the rehabilitation of inmates.

The boost came through the Citizen Security Strengthening Programme (CSSP), a release from the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

Speaking at the handing over ceremony which was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs, Minister Robeson Benn said the donation will further assist in rehabilitation of inmates, an initiative which the government feels will lower the current recidivism rate.
