Sherwin Sampson led Team Guyana’s sweep of the podium in the cycle road race of this year’s Inter Guiana Games (IGG) staged yesterday at West Demerara.

In brilliant sunshine, the 16-year-old shone the brightest among the teen star wheelsmen, leading Alex Leung and Aaron Newton across the line for 1-2-3 finish for the Golden Arrowhead.

While Sampson and Leung soloed in, Newton out sprinted Suriname’s Xavi Wadilie to claim the bronze in the event which pedaled off at Schoonord, proceeded to Parika and returned to the National Track and Field Centre’s entrance for the finish.
