Residents of South Georgetown communities awarded contracts for cleaning, desilting

Two south Georgetown communities have been awarded contracts totalling $165m for the cleaning and desilting of drains along with the rehabilitation of bridges and roads.

The works will be undertaken in Albouystown and West La Penitence. The contracts were awarded to 35             persons in the communities and will see some 350 residents benefiting from employment.

The services were procured subsequent to complaints to President Irfaan Ali during his visit to the two South Georgetown communities back in October. The contracts were signed between the contractors and the Ministry of Public Works.
