Footballer granted bail over firearm, ammo

Principal Magistrate, Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, yesterday granted Jobe Caesar bail in the sum of $300,000 after he was charg-ed last month with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.

The 24-year-old defendant’s attorney, Everton Singh-Lammy, yesterday renewed the bail application for his client by stating that the gun was not found directly on his client and that his client has no previous conviction.

On November 14, Caesar, a national footballer, was charged and remanded for being in possession of a .32 Taurus pistol at the National Gymnasium on Mandela Avenue in Georgetown, without being the holder of a firearm licence. He was also charged with having 6 live rounds of .32 ammunition for which he is also not the holder of a firearm licence.
