Ministry hands over $81.8m in equipment to fire service

Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn yesterday handed over several new vehicles and bicycles to the Guyana Fire Service.

A release from the ministry said that the items were purchased by the Government of Guyana at a total cost of $81.8 million.

The vehicles include two excavators, which will remain in Region 4 to assist in the planting of fire hydrants and to support firefighting efforts; three double cab pickups, which will be placed in Regions 2, 4, and 6; one SUV, which will be used to transport the Chief Fire Officer and other senior officers; and one motorcycle, which will be sent to Lethem, Region 9.
