The sixth edition of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets, West Demerara Championship will kick-off this evening at the Pouderoyen Tarmac with the Round of 16 section, following a three year absence.

Tournament coordinator Shavaine Ghent said, “All systems are in place for tomorrow, the expectation is not to only have a large crowd but an exciting night of football so patrons should come out and support their teams because they will have notable players participating and new players who will be making their debut in the format.”

According to Ghent, “Anticipation for the tournament is at an all-time high given the three year absence, and simply based on the turnout that was experienced at the playoffs, all the teams that have made the main draw following an arduous qualifying tournament, are well prepared and have eyes on the coveted prize. Good luck to all the teams and may the best team win.”
