Driver in accident that sparked Hopetown unrest on $100,000 bail

The driver of the car involved in last Sunday’s Hopetown, West Coast Berbice accident which injured two persons and sparked unrest, has since been placed on $100,000 bail.

The father of the driver who was arrested following the accident after he allegedly verbally abused the police ranks has been placed on $25,000 bail.

Commander of Region Six, Kurleigh Simon yesterday confirmed the bail for both men and stressed that a file is near completion to be sent for advice as it relates to the accident.

Residents in Hopetown, West Coast Berbice last Sunday evening torched the driver’s Mazda RX8 car on the main public road after it was involved in the accident.
