Corentyne woman hospitalized with burn injuries after husband throws stove

An Upper Corentyne woman is now hospitalized in a serious condition after her husband allegedly threw a kerosene stove on her during an argument over a cellphone on Wednesday evening.

Around 7 pm, Edward Sukhu also known as “Paul”, 47, an operator, and his wife Zeena Harripaul also known as “Lovita”, 40, a part-time worker were involved in an argument over a cell phone at their Number 69 Village, Corentyne, home.

According to a police report, Sukhu was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time, while Harripaul was cooking on a kerosene stove in the kitchen located in the lower flat of their house.
