Victory Valley Royals of Linden and Ravens secured victories when the Guyana Basketball Federation senior men’s outdoor championships commenced Sunday evening at the Burnham Court, Parade Ground.
The Royals defeated Colts by a 67-58 score. The first quarter ended brightly for the home side, as they raced to a 19-14 advantage. However, Royals responded in the second quarter, scoring 25 points, while restricting Colts to 19 points to enter the halftime interval marginally ahead at 39-38. The visitors maintained their slim margin in the pivotal third quarter, as they outscored their opponent 13-12 to enter the fourth quarter with a 52-50 lead. Royals then sealed the come-from-behind victory, as they outhustled Colts 15-8.
