Plaisance security guard remanded over firearm, ammo

Meckiel Sancho also called ‘Tall Man’

The 29-year-old security guard who was on Thursday nabbed by police ranks at Plaisance on the East Coast of Demerara with an illegal Taurus pistol and matching rounds of ammunition was yesterday charged and remanded to prison for the offence along with an unlawful wounding charge.

Meckiel Sancho, of Britton Street, Plaisance, made his appearance at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Alisha George who read the two summary charges and one indictable charge to him.

The charges states that on March 9 at Victoria Road, Plaisance, Sancho had in his possession a .32 Taurus pistol without being the holder of a firearm licence. It was also stated that he had 12 matching rounds of .32 ammunition.
