Demerara firmly in control heading into third day

Demerara are currently in a commanding position with a 345-run lead over the Select XI in the Guyana Cricket Board’s senior Inter-County four-day tournament’s second round.

Resuming yesterday on 360 for eight, Demerara converted their first innings total to 419 all out in 101.5 overs before bowling out the Select XI for 166 in 46.5 overs. Demerara then reached 92 for four after 25 overs at stumps in their second innings at Georgetown Cricket Club, Bourda.

Shamar Yearwood registered his first ton at this level, moving from his overnight score of 94 to 105 from 174 balls. He struck four sixes and seven fours during his over three-hour innings before he was caught by Rajendra Chandrika at first slip off of Carlos La Rose.
