The qualifying team events for the Central American and Caribbean table tennis championships got underway yesterday at the National Gymnasium with perennial powerhouse the Dominican Republic showcasing their obvious superiority in the women’s division.

Led by two former Caribbean women’s singles champions in Eva Brito and Yasiris Ortiz, the Dominican Republic made light work of the Costa Rica and Guyana women’s teams winning by three nil margins on both occasions to top the group and move forward to the next round.
