Buxton Secondary was crowned the East Coast Demerara champion in the Digicel Schools Football Championship, defeating President’s College 2-1 in the final yesterday at the Ministry of Education ground (MOE), Carifesta Avenue.
Leon McFarlane opened the scoring for the Buxtonians in the 27th minute. Racing into the penalty area, McFarlane slotted his right footed effort into the back of the net after receiving a pass.
The lead would be increased two minutes later, as Ovid Brown etched his name on the scorer’s sheet. Receiving the ball outside the centre of the box, Brown uncorked a powerful strike which settled into the far corner.
