Autopsy reveals 14-year-old Kaneville student died by drowning

The police yesterday reported that the body of Daniel Cameron, the 14-year-old student of Kaneville Squatting area, East Bank Demerara, who was found floating Wednesday afternoon, in the Essequibo River in the vicinity of 5th Avenue beach, Bartica, died as a result of drowning.

Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Dion Moore told Stabroek News yesterday that the post mortem results showed that the teen died as a result of drowning.

Investigations revealed that on Tuesday at about 15.00 hours, Cameron travelled from Supenaam to Bartica where he met his uncle who was supposed to take him into the Sand Hill Backdam to see his grandmother. At about 17.30 hours that day, he accompanied his uncle to the Bartica Regional Hospital to have a malaria smear done.
