GPH celebrates first ever breast reconstruction surgery

The elated GPH surgical team

The Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) is basking in the facility’s successful completion of breast reconstruction surgery performed recently.

This historic procedure was performed at the hospital on a 54-year-old patient who had conquered breast cancer two decades ago. According to a GPHC release, the surgery was performed by a local team in collaboration with the British Foundation for International Reconstructive Surgery and Training (BFIRST).

The team was led by Dr Shilindra Rajkumar, along with a team from BFIRST, including Drs Maniram Rhagbir and Naveen Cavale who lent their expertise to ensure the surgery’s success. The release noted that the hospital’s ability to undertake such a task is the result of years of research, dedication, and an unyielding commitment to patient care.
