Two miners were killed on Wednesday night at Moon-light Backdam, Kamarang, after the mining pit they were working in collapsed and buried them.
Dead are Trayon Hastings, 38, of Kamarang Landing, Upper Mazaruni; and Rocky Norton of Isseneru Village, Middle Mazaruni.
The Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) says that it will be organising a multi-agency team to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
