Man charged with robbery of AG Chambers employee on King St

Randy Smart, 19, of Lot 240 South Road, Lacytown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday before Chief Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus where he was charged with robbery.

It was stated in court that on Friday, August 11, at King Street, while being in the company of another, the defendant stole from Chandradat Mangru, one Samsung cellular phone valued $80,000.

On the day in question at about 10 am, Mangru was sent by the Attorney General’s Chambers to a cambio on King Street to change some foreign currency. He was accompanied by a policeman attached to the Presidential Guard in a vehicle assigned to the Office of the Attorney General.
