KFC Elite League winner, the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), yesterday received their $2,000,000 first prize during a simple presentation ceremony at the title sponsor’s Vlissengen Road location.

GDF concluded the one-round event with an unbeaten record of eight wins and a draw to finish with 25 points. They were followed by  Western Tigers [22 points], the Guyana Police Force (GPF) [21 points] and Santos [21 points—weaker goal differential], who finished second, third, and fourth  respectively. The other teams that competed in the tournament were Fruta Conquerors, Milerock, Ann’s Grove, Buxton United, Victoria Kings and Den Amstel.

GDF captain Kenard Simon said during brief remarks, “It wasn’t surprising for us because we know that we are the number one team; we know that we could’ve come out victorious just because of the level of training and the level of respect that we have in the country.”
