At about 12:40 hours yesterday, Police ranks were carrying out a ‘stop and search’ exercise on the Bamia Highway when one of the ranks stopped a Route 94 (Georgetown-Lethem) motor bus #BAE 5113.
The bus was transporting eight passengers and was heading to George-town. The driver and the eight passengers were told to exit the vehicle so that searches could be conducted, a statement from the police said yesterday.
Delon Oliver Vanderstoop, a 27-year-old construction worker of Strathspey, East Coast Demerara, was seated on the front passenger’s seat, and he had in his possession a bulky haversack.
