Car with 100 lbs suspected ganja intercepted by police after chase

Police from the Timehri Station yesterday morning intercepted a vehicle with 100 lbs of suspected ganja after a chase and one man in is custody but the driver escaped.

In a statement, the police said that that at about 2.45 am yesterday, ranks from the Timehri Station were conducting a ‘roadblock exercise’ on the public road in the vicinity of Pearl, East Bank Demerara, when they saw a motor car, PAC 7539 approaching, heading north along Pearl public road.

Ranks observed that the vehicle slowed down, pulled over to the western side of the road and then made a sudden U-turn and sped away.
