New commandant at Guyana National Reserve

The Guyana National Reserve on September 27 welcomed a new Commandant and bid farewell to Colonel Trevor Bowman, following his early retirement.

He handed over command to Lieutenant Colonel Lloyd Souvenir, a release from the Guyana Defence Force said.

The formalisation of the new command started with the swearing-in of Colonel Souvenir by Chief-of-Staff, Brigadier Omar Khan prior to the parade. The Change of Command Parade was held at Base Camp Seweyo, located on the Linden Soesdyke Highway.

Colonel Bowman is a graduate of the Standard Officer Course 24 and enlisted in the Guyana Defence Force in August 1993. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in May 1994, the release said

In farewell remarks he reflected on his COVID-19 battle, which encouraged him to alter his life’s course and prioritise the things that matter, such as the health and spiritual well-being of himself and his family.
