`Pink Power’ set to highlight breast cancer

As Breast Cancer Awareness Month gets underway, the Guyana Cancer Foundation is organizing several events to mark the occasion. The Foundation has branded this year’s celebration as “Pink Power” and it  is committed to raising awareness about breast cancer and supporting patients and their families.

The first activity will be the Foundation’s annual tree wrapping exercise which takes place today. The starting point for this activity is Main Street, Georgetown and pink ribbons will be wrapped around trees throughout the city.

October 13 will be deemed “No Bra Day”. On this day, women are encouraged to go without bras to honour those who have lost their breast to cancer while the men are encouraged to wear bras over their shirts to support the women.
