Corentyne woman shot in neck continues to battle for life

Ashmin Mahadeo continues to fight for her life at the Georgetown Public Hospital after being mysteriously shot in the neck on the morning of October 1st at her Williamsburg, Corentyne residence, and investigators in Berbice are yet to nab the person behind the gun.

Mahadeo, 30, of Lot 25 D Williamsburg, Corentyne, who was shot in the back of her neck resulting in the bullet exiting in the lower area of her jaw, is currently hospitalized in a critical condition at the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.

Her relatives had said that doctors informed them that Mahadeo is currently paralyzed and will likely not be able to speak if she survives.

Police in Berbice had initially held Mahadeo’s fiancé, Neil Madramootoo, a Berbice engineer, for questioning. He has since been released on $300,000 bail.
