Pulwantie Ramjan, the 56-year-old pedestrian of 69 Annandale Railway Embankment who was struck down and killed on Monday evening on the Lusignan Railway Embankment had been on an errand to buy some items to celebrate her upcoming birthday.

The deceased woman’s son, Omkar Ramjan, told Stabroek News yesterday that his mother stopped off at a supermarket in the Lusignan area after doing some domestic work and purchased some birthday items as her birthday was approaching. She was heading back home when the accident occurred.

Omkar who lives at the same address as his mother could not say exactly what happened to her, but was told that she was struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the road.
