GPHC announces historic minimally invasive surgery

The Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) yesterday announced that four minimally invasive laparoscopic surgeries were performed by surgeons/professors from the Caribbean Asso-ciation of Endoscopic Surgeons (CaSES)  – including one for the first time ever here – and these were broadcast to a training room.

Three of these surgeries were conducted for the first time at GPHC and one for the first time in Guyana, a release from the GPHC said.

The surgeries performed included:

Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy using ICG Technology for the first time in Guyana, marked a pivotal moment in healthcare innovation, the release said.
