Jevaughn Stephens passes away

Former Director of Regional Health Services of Region Six, Jevaughn Stephens, has died at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital.

The PNCR this morning confirmed that Stephens had died stating on Facebook, “The PNCR is shocked and saddened at the passing of Jevaughn Stephens and wishes to express its deepest sympathy to his family, relatives and friends at this time. May his soul be at eternal rest.”

Stephens served as the director of health service under the APNU+AFC government.

Sources have told Stabroek News, that Stephens visited the hospital during the wee hours of today after experiencing shortness of breath.

Shortly after he passed away and a heart attack is suspected to have been the cause.

Stephens, a cricket fanatic, was a father of two.

Hilbert Foster also lamented the passing on his Facebook page.

“Life can be so unpredictable sometimes but this one is very difficult to take. I cannot believe that Jevaughn Stephen is no more He served as my Vice President at the BCB and also was known for his passion for the game. On behalf of my entire family ,the Rose hall town Youth and Sports Club and the Berbice Cricket Board I extend deepest condolences to his family especially his wife. Rest In Peace my friend and May Jesus and his angels grant you a resting place in his kingdom. Gone but would forever be in our hearts my friend”.
