Venezuela Parliament still suspended as member of IPU

Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) reported at the 147th IPU Assembly in Luanda, Angola, that Venezuela remains suspended from the institution as there remain questions concerning the legitimacy and recognition of the two competing Parliaments in the country.

This is according to a press release from Speaker of National Assembly, Manzoor Nadir who was part of the delegation that represented Guyana.

The release said that Nadir was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Group of Latin America and the Caribbean (GRULAC). He will serve with the Deputy of the Mexican Congress,  Sofia Carvajal Isunza, the elected Chairman.
