Boat captain held over Tuschen fatal accident pleads guilty to drunk driving

 Boat captain, Mark Braithwaite, 36, who was held by the police over a fatal accident at Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo, today pleaded guilty to driving under the influence and was fined $50,000.

He appeared at the Leonora Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Faith McGusty.

Braithwaite was held after an accident on the Tuschen Old Road which claimed the life of 20-year-old pedal cyclist Kazim Hamid.

The accident involved motor car PWW 668, owned by Ravy Sawh of Parika and driven at the time by Braithwaite of Tuschen and Hamid, a  labourer of Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo.

Investigations are continuing.
