Cyclist, 73, succumbs a week after struck down by minibus

A 73-year-old pedal cyclist has succumbed to injuries he sustained after he was struck down by a minibus on October 26 along the Bengal Farm Access Road leading into the backlands.

Dead is Walter Jaundoo of Epson Village, Corentyne. The driver of the minibus, BHH 2939, a 51-year-old lance corporal of police is in custody for questioning.

According to information gathered, on Thursday, October, 26, just around 1 pm, the minibus was proceeding east behind the pedal cyclist along the road. Police, in an initial report, said that the driver alleged that while overtaking Jaundoo, he sounded the horn but suddenly the cyclist swerved right into his path.
