Girl, 14, shot, Norton St man held

A fourteen-year-old girl was shot in her left thumb on Monday and a Norton Street man is in custody.

The police say that at about 2.40 pm on Monday, Doctor Singh, who is attached to the Kitty Health Centre called and reported to the Kitty Police Station that a 14-year-old female patient was being treated for a suspected gunshot wound to her left thumb.

As a result of the report, Police ranks were dispatched to the Kitty Health Centre and, on arrival, the ranks met and interviewed a 14-year-old female student from Kuru Kururu, Soesdyke/Linden Highway. She was at the time in the company of a 15-year-old friend who is a student from Houston Secondary School, and the suspect, Leon Garraway, a 21-year-old ‘Delivery Man’ who is from Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.
