Venezuela must uphold World Court’s order – CARICOM

Venezuela must uphold the International Court of Justice (ICJ) Order of December 01, and comply with International Law in all respects, and the Charter of the United Nations, is what the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has stated it expects while emphasising that the Bolivarian Republic must take no action in violation of said laws.

In a release yesterday, CARICOM pointed out that the Court’s Order reinforces the fundamental principle of International Law, enshrined in the UN and OAS Charters, that every State has the duty to respect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of others. The Order, it noted, makes clear that holding a national referendum does not exempt a State from its obligation to comply with this duty.
