Bartica man charged with illegal possession of firearms

Twenty-seven-year-old Michael Jacobis of Lot 175 Bartica, Region Seven, appeared before Magistrate Rhondel Weever at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court yesterday where he was charged with possession of a firearm without a licence.

It is alleged that on December 12 in front of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) headquarters on Homestretch Avenue, Georgetown, he had in his possession two firearms – a .38 Ruger revolver, and one 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

Jacobis pleaded not guilty to the charge.
